TYC is located on the busy street of Oshiwara. A brown door with a yellow canopy (of sorts) and plants welcome you. Surrounded by a multitude of options, this one stand out a little with its super cute and vibrant interiors. TYC has sandwiches, salads, coffee, some yummy desserts and smoothies on their menu.
The cafe is small but colourfully done up. The glass frontage allows plenty of light to brighten up the place. Cute and colourful cushion covers, comfy tables and seating and some Instagram-worthy corners. The cafe can become your go-to place for a quick sip or a fresh salad/sandwich!
TYC is not short of yellow things. A yellow chair here. A yellow bucket there. Yellow cushions decorating the place. I did miss out on the yellow cup, though. But maybe that is because I did not try coffee? Yes, that can happen!
If you want to rekindle your love affair with salads, or maybe just poke the tree and see if there is a spark…. TYC is a place you must try! Apart from their pretty good list of salads, they also have a make your own salad option. Best part? The salad bowls are not blatantly costly!
Here is what we tried at The Yellow Cup:
Asparagus & Green Bean Salad: Roasted pumpkin, Feta Cheese, Asparagus and French beans. Top this with roasted garlic. The spicy tangy dip it comes with is just a blessing. The salad was a mix of mild sweet flavour added by the pumpkin, tangy flavour from the lime juice and a pungent one from the garlic. A great combination of flavours.
Make Your Own – Quinoa, Chick Peas, Black Beans, Veggies, Walnuts and Curry Sauce – The Balsamic Vinaigrette and curry sauce added a delicious mix of flavour to this super green and fresh salad. Loved the Quinoa bit in this one!
In fact, I even loved the salad that comes as a side to the sandwiches we tried!
Black bean Toast – Lettuce and a non-spicy black bean stuffing. The sandwich was good but could have had a little more stuffing with veggies/sauces that compensate for the dry texture of black beans.
Fresh Mushroom Toast – This one is my absolute favourite. Cheddar Cheese and mushrooms, just a mind blowing combination. This one again was not spicy but flavourful!
Blueberry Smoothie is a must have here. Try nothing else if you please, but do try this one! So delicious. Perfect consistency. No added sugar. I loved this one! Strongly recommended!
Carrot Muffin Smoothie – Cinnamon and Carrot muffin turned into a smoothie. Though I liked it, I think the blend was too disruptive, almost overshadowing the cinnamon flavour.
Chilli Crunch Cookie – A savory-sweet cookie that melts in the mouth. Cheese and chilli flakes.
Chocolate Chip Cookie – What I loved about this cookie was that it was not too heavy or sweet. The focus was on the chocolate chips to give the required sweetness!
Fairy Cake – Rainbow cake with lots of colours and cream. The cake was dense but delicious.
Chia Seed Pudding with Fresh Fruits ( Raspberry and Blueberry ) – This one was a delight. I never knew desserts could be so healthy, yet delicious. Chia seeds – Soaked, so almost tasted like oats! Don’t make that face, or you will regret it!
Chia Seeds with Blueberry/Raspberry sauce and topped with nuts. The Raspberry one was mild tangy and sweet in flavour. This added to the Chia seeds rendered a unique combination. We tried both the options, blueberry and raspberry and liked them both.
Overall Experience: Bumblebeelicious! A cute place, peaceful ambience, delicious food and friendly service, which is a cherry on top!
The Battle: Not getting another one of that yummy blueberry smoothie! Could you be nice and get me one when you go here?
