The Playlist Pizzeria [Bandra]

There are some places, that you can’t get over. They get their food right and then they find themselves in all your right books! One such place is The Playlist Pizzeria. I really like the pizza’s here and the place often finds mention in my favourite pizza places!

Previous Blog – The Playlist Pizzeria

Recently, when we were pizza – hungry (yup, that is a state of hunger) we decided to go to Playlist again. We braved the crazy WEH traffic at peak evening hours and made our way to this rocking pizza place, and boy was it worth it!!

We started with the Playlist Signature Garlic Bread. One of the best garlic bread I have had. Super thin crust and topped with a crazy amount of cheese and the perfect quantity of garlic! Fingers were licked, I shall warn you!

Then was time for what we came here for – Pizzas!! We ordered Lost and Found Reverb and Hips Don’t Lie .

Lost and Found is the perfect minimal pizza that you can get. Thin crust pizza topped with a Chef’s special tomato sauce, tons of olives and oodles of cheese! The tomato sauce at the base leaves a slightly tangy taste and then there is cheese! Perfect if you don’t like much to come between you and mozzarella….

Lost and Found

Hip’s Don’t Lie is a low cheese pizza (I wonder why we do that to ourselves!) with a whole lot of toppings and olive oil on top! This one is for you if you like your pizza virtually healthy. The jalapenos give a spicy taste with the tangy sauce at the base finishing the job right. Personally, I am not much of a fan!

Then comes the highlight of the pizza party – Reverb. I have been in love with this one since I tried it first (Check out the earlier post – The Playlist Pizzeria ). Crispy thin crust pizza with cottage cheese (paneer) ,  chillies and onions and loads of cheese!! Whatever it is with us and our fascination with paneer in pizza, it just couldn’t get better! Still drooling!!

Happiness! 🙂

My two cents : The Playlist Pizzeria is a place all pizza lovers should give a try. You may just end up finding your pizza soulmate here!

The Chocolate Heaven [Vile Parle]

The Chocolate Heaven had served as a regular hangout for me long ago and I have wanted to go try all their yummy sundaes and pasta again ever since!

I went here a few days ago, almost around midnight and was welcomed to a quiet cafe with Bollywood songs being played in the background.

Immediately I opened the menu to the pasta section and ordered Spinach Garlic Fusilli Cheese Pasta. The smell of the pasta being prepared really made my mouth water uncontrollably.

Since the pasta is otherwise non-spicy, we added tons of chilli flakes. I just love how the colours pop out in this image. The pasta is very palatable and flavoursome with the perfect cheesy, garlic-y taste. I really had forgotten how amazing this used to be! The Spinach Garlic Fusilli Cheese Pasta is a must have item on their menu.

As we waited for our pasta to arrive, we treated ourselves to some Hot Chocolate and Chilli Garlic Potato Pops. The hot chocolate is basic and the potato pops though really tasty are very low in quantity. The fact that the pasta was so good saved me from the disappointment I would have otherwise faced.

The Battle: The one I am fighting right now as my mouth waters for a little, no scratch that, for a lot more of that pasta!!

My two cents: Go here for their yummy pasta and desserts. The ambience may not be amazing, but the food totally makes it worth it!

Jimis Burger [Malad]

Pure Bliss!

That is the feeling I had when I took that first bite of their amazing burger! Oh so good!

I think I should first tempt all of you with the pictures and then go on talking! It will give me some time to control the drooling too! 😉

The BBQ Paneer and Bell Pepper Paneer Burger

If you are not drooling yet, then let me take this opportunity to tell you about the juicy paneer and the yummy caramelised onions, red cabbage and jalapenos. Oh and do not forget the cheese and mayo that ooze out with every bite! So tempting and so irresistible that you will not care about the sauces decorating your face as you dig in! Perfection and happiness!

Jimis burger is a small joint hidden away in the super crowded lanes (gallis) of Evershine Nagar, Malad. It has a comfortable ambience, but not a lot of seating space and the service is super friendly! Jimis is super pocket-friendly, and if you live in the neighbourhood, you are bound to become a loyal here.

They  have french fries and crispy potato wedges as options and let you get your beverage from outside.

They have only one option for vegetarians which is just so sad! I just hope they launch more options soon.

The Battle: Oh there was a battle alright! But this time, it was between my friends and me for the next bite of the delicious burger.

Maddu Mess [Powai]

Maddu Mess is a small South Indian breakfast place opposite IIT-B, with a ferociously loyal following. It opens from 4 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. and any night-owl aware of its existence shall swear by it.

When I say this, do not make assumptions about the look and feel of the place. Maddu Mess is actually a small joint, located in a dingy corner, in an alley filled with the stench of poultry. My first reaction when I finally located the place was – ‘Oh God, what have I gotten myself into?’ But if you can actually ignore this and move past all the thoughts about the unhygienic alley and actually order the food here, you will be surprised.

Considering I located the place with great pain, and that my mouth had been watering for some yummy south Indian food ever since I left home, I decided to move past the cats and water puddles and the smell and actually give it a shot!

Maddu Mess is basically a kitchen, a table in the alley area and a small seating area in a small room next to it, here you always find a bunch of IITians.

We ordered Sada Dosa, Fried Idli and Medu Vada. Then we repeated the order and repeated it again and then one more time. Everything is mindblowing. The vada and idli are really good and super crispy. The dosa is on the soft side but just perfect. I really loved the sambhar they served it with. (They leave a utensil full of sambhar on the table outside for you to help yourself). What is disappointing is the chutney. Completely lacking flavour that you would expect from a traditional south Indian place and so diluted. Give it a skip if you can, the sambhar is more than good.

We decided to end the meal with a cup of coffee, which is really good!

Locating the place can be a difficulty, so it is better to ask for directions. There is one entry in the alley (galli) just before the IIT market bus stop, a sign board is placed at the entry.

Overall Experience: Amazing food and so pocket-friendly! The people are good. I only wish they would revamp the place, just enough to make it a little more hygienic.

Food 🙂

Service 🙂

Ambience 😥

The Battle: Getting comfortable with the area is a difficulty, but if that is sorted, this place and the food here – pure delight!
